Tourniquet –

Modern Pneumatic Tourniquet was devised by Harvey Cushing in 1904

Most Common Complication is Nerve Palsy (Upper Limb > Lower Limb)

Most Common Nerve involved is Radial Nerve

Most Common Cause of Nerve Palsy is Direct Pressure > Ischemia (due to venous congestion)

Post Tourniquet Syndrome – It is mainly due to muscle crushing due to high mechanical pressure and characterised by Post Op Edema , Redness and dysaesthesia
